For the last 30 years The Wilmington Greek Festival has been a go-to event every May here in Wilmington, N.C. The festival, which highlights Greek culture through music, food, books and entertainment is hosted every year at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

It’s such a great feeling to see people out and about celebrating their culture and heritage through art, music and food.

Our team had the opportunity to attend this year’s event and boy were we surprised to see the large number of people and community back together in such a celebratory atmosphere.

The food lines were long, it was hot and humid, but that didn’t seem to bother anyone, because the the community was back together having a grand old time.

As we walked around the festival we found a wide variety of authentic Greek food including: Greek-Style Lemon Chicken, Leg of Lamb, Mousaka, Pastitso, Lamb Gyros, Chicken Gyros and of course the deserts. Lots of great tasting Greek deserts.

In addition to the food, we saw dancers in costume, a live band and a number of Greek themed characters walking around the crowd taking pictures with attendees.

It’s such a great feeling to see people out and about celebrating their culture and heritage through art, music and food. Just another reminder how special Wilmington is and why we all choose to live here.
