Enjoy the Trask Family Farms Sunflower Maze, one of New Hanover County’s most unique summer experiences! Opening for the first time in July 2023, the sunflower maze is located just outside Wilmington in Castle Hayne on nine sprawling acres of land.

Owned and operated by the family since the 1930s, Trask Family Farms cultivates seasonal produce, including tomatoes, sweet corn, pumpkins, melons, peppers, and flowers, offering these and other goods for sale at the onsite produce stand. With the addition of the sunflower maze in July and the corn maze in the fall, the property has become a destination for families and visitors to enjoy unique and seasonal experiences.

We visited the Trask Family Farms Sunflower Maze in July with a few friends. Be sure to watch our video above to see our experience! To visit, reserve tickets online or purchase them onsite at the produce stand. Tickets are $10 and admit you to the maze and allow you to pick one sunflower. You have the option to purchase additional flowers, too!

Arrive at the produce stand and show or purchase your ticket. You will receive a pair of flower clippers, a map of the maze, and a flower basket to carry your flowers. Head out into the field and start your journey through the maze. Similar to a corn maze, the path is made of dirt and uneven, so we recommend wearing boots or other durable shoes and using a stroller with larger tires and solid suspension.

Meander through the maze at your own pace and enjoy the views of the surrounding sunflowers. Plan to make stops along the way to pick flowers and take pictures in the field. Plan to be in the maze for at least 45 minutes as you wind around the property.

After the maze, drop your baskets and clippers at the produce stand and pay for additional flowers. Browse the seasonal produce for sale, including corn, tomatoes, and cantaloupe, order scoops of ice cream provided by Coastal Creamery, and relax on the rocking chairs.

Enjoy your time at Trask Family Farms Sunflower Maze. This family-friendly experience is one that can’t be missed!
