In the early spring into summer, local family run berry farm, Lewis Farms located in Wilmington is a great place to pick up fresh, organic local berries and homemade ice cream.

Lewis Farms is a u-pick farm located at 6517 Gordon Rd. and is a popular destination for families and berry lovers. It’s best to visit Lewis Farms in the spring and early summer as the strawberry season typically starts in the beginning of April. As it gets later in the summer the strawberries finish their run and the blueberries show up (usually in May/June).

It’s super easy to pick and fun for the young kids. You pay for a bucket and you can fill it up for one price! You even get to keep the bucket as a souvenir. The farm also has a good size plant nursery with herbs, flowers and veggies. On the way out the door, don’t forget to get bowl of their signature, delicious homemade ice cream.
